Shannon L. Taylor

Having someone who has done the prosecutor’s job before gives the client a great advantage in his/her case.  Boone Beale is proud to have Shannon L. Taylor as one of its prominent Criminal Defense attorneys practicing in the Richmond office.  Ms. Taylor was the Former Special Counsel for the Richmond Metropolitan Multi-Jurisdiction Grand Jury from February 2004 to March 31, 2008.  During that time, she was involved in hundreds of drug and homicide investigations.  As someone who has “done their job before”, Ms. Taylor’s clients have the comfort of having on their side someone who knows the ins and outs of investigations and knows what it takes to make the case.  Ms. Taylor brings to the courtroom for her clients the same aggressive and effective courtroom persona that she had as a prosecutor.

Ms. Taylor attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where in 1989 she received a bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs.  After graduating from the University of Virginia, she moved to Richmond and worked at Hunton and Williams law firm before attending law school and receiving her Juris Doctorate in 1995 from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.  In her over twelve years of practice as a prosecutor, Ms. Taylor has experienced almost all areas of criminal law, from juvenile and domestic relations crimes to homicides, in state and federal courts.  As part of her term at the Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, she was twice assigned as a Special Assistant United States Attorney to the United States Attorney’s Office in Richmond, Virginia, handling gun cases stemming from Project Exile and violent crime cases with the expansion of Project Safe Neighborhoods.

Creative thinking and an aggressive defense.  Ms. Taylor does that for her clients.
